Amazing interview above with novelist and futurist Arthur C. Clarke in 1976, who matter of factly describes the internet much as we know it today.
Clarke is in the pantheon of 20th century science fiction writers, having inspired and co-written the screenplay for Stanley Kubrick’s 2001.
The other science fiction writer/scientist most often mentioned in the same breath as Clarke is Isaac Asimov. Asimov’s Intelligent Man’s Guide to Science was a feature in my parent’s library that I pulled out and pored over often, without completely understanding, and his novels are touchstones for several generations.
In 1989, Asimov discussed the Greenhouse effect and Global warming in a speech, demonstrating once again how complete the science of climate change was long before the IPCC and “An Inconvenient Truth”.
